House Plants that are easy to keep

I have been into collecting plants for a good few years now so I have defiantly killed my fair share.

I wanted to write a short post about house plants that are easy to keep, which I hope will help save some time and money for anyone who is thinking of buying some green.

Like I said before I have had my few fatalities. I am no expert and what I share with you is what I have learnt long the way. Its taken me a long time to build my collection and learn how to keep them happy. A lot of moving, feeding, over watering and under watering, pot bound plants, repotted too soon plants and of course the trusted not enough sun plants.

Plants are a big investment not only with money but with your time too. If you see a plant you like I would always advise Googling it before you buy. I always stay clear of plants that like high humidity not sure why, maybe its because I live in England or that my house is full of draughts and the vintage windows that do not close properly or that my bathroom is full to the brim of plants that can’t survive outside of it.

So the plants below are what I think are low maintenance plants and great if you are just beginning out. Plus the plants below are what i advised my Sister to buy and they are all still alive and believe me if she can keep them alive anyone can :)

So i begin with the Snake plant which has loads of names but the guys I am talking about are above. They are beyond easy I only water once every Two weeks making sure the soil is completely dried out. I have repotted a couple of these guys and used Cacti soil mix. They like sun but can handle a dark corner too.

Air plants, do I need to say more its in the name :) These guys are crazy easy to keep every Two weeks I give these guys a soak, in room temp water, for about an hour. Thats it no soil just beautiful plants. I got the guys about from the awesome The Leafy City  they even send you care instructions.

Cacti my favourite! They love the sun and very rarely need repotting and water every 3 weeks. Check out my Caring for Cacti blog post for more info on these guys.

The ZZ plant has to be the winner of easiest plants to keep, it so easy it almost like neglect!! the ZZ plant is beautiful with its shiny leaves and crazy growing habit I love this plant. It can even survive without water but will obviously grow and be happier if watered when you remember.

Peace Lily (the one on the stool) so beautiful and a little crazy. Some days you will think you have completely killed it as it will look floppy and like its given up but all you do is water it and it soon perks up. Likes in direct light and lots I mean lots of water.

Lastly The Spider Plant, so beautiful and easy to propagate it likes some sun and likes to drink so water regularly. I have a more in depth Spider plant care blog post too.
