A rug made from disused plastic bottles!
When I first saw this, I didn't think I had read it right, but after reading more about Weaver Green and its owners, Tasha and Barney, I realised that it was indeed true.
I discovered their rugs after a trip to the fabulous Watergate Bay, where I fell in love with a throw, and after investigating, I found out it was from Weaver Green, and my passion for their products went from there.
Plastic Bottles.
The inspiration for "Weaver Green" came from a trip to Asia, where Tasha and Barney found that a rope being used to tether a fishing boat was made from plastic bottles. It took them seven years to create and this is how:
You can read more about the owners here.
We went for the Nomad Sultan Rug, which was a tough choice as we loved everything in their "Nomad" range, but the brown and pink tones won us over in this particular style. I love knowing that our rug is made from 5400 recycled plastic bottles.
It looked fabulous with all the Rattan pieces I had collected over the years, partnered with linen cushions, and seagrass textures created a cosy, tranquil environment. Not forgetting our green tribe, the rug ( as you can see) made itself at home among them.
I was worried about not being comfortable underfoot with this rug, but I can't believe how much it feels like natural wool. We got the underlay from Weaver Green, too, and it gives it a spongy carpet feel. It’s unbelievably comfy and the kids love laying on it and I love the feel of it on my bare feet.
